This is the third callout in the first four days of 2025, and the team is also preparing, alongside colleagues from other services, for the expected weather over the next 36 hours or so.
This evening, just before 16:30, the team was contacted by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to assist with a casualty having a seizure near Birtle, Bury. Team members were at the base sorting equipment and preparing vehicles for the expected weather. This meant they were mobilised very quickly, along with others who headed directly to the location.
The ambulance crew were nearby, but unable to gain access through a gate. As initial team members arrived at the location it was confirmed one of the ambulance crew had gone forwards with some initial equipment, and a team member helped the second crew member with further equipment on foot. Fortunately, on the way they were met with the casualty and crew member who safely walked back to the ambulance for further assessments and ongoing care.
