November 28, 2023CALLOUT 57 – Call to assist NWAS
January 2, 2024CALLOUT 56
The team was contacted just before 8 am on Sunday morning (3/12/23) to assist the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) with a casualty who had fallen with a lower leg injury and was unresponsive near to Clowbridge Reservoir.
The team was deployed and as the team vehicle arrived at the RV point, we got word to stand down from the crew on the scene as they were able to deal with the casualty. As the vehicle was only a matter of several hundred meters away the team vehicle continued whilst the remaining team members stood down and returned to their Sunday mornings.
Upon arrival, the casualty had been assisted to an ambulance, however, their vehicle was on the snow, down an access track next to the reservoir; so the team vehicle remained to ensure they could get back to the main road. Sure enough, a good decision as the ambulance struggled to make the final snowy/icy ramp back to the road. The team made a small excursion back to base to get some additional salt/grit which enabled the ambulance to get free and make its way to the hospital and get the casualty into further care.
