June 25, 2023CALLOUT 26
On Wednesday (14/6/23) afternoon at around 15:30, the team was contacted through Lancashire Police to assist Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) with a wildfire in Peel Park, Accrington.
At the time of the call, 6 fire crews along with other specialist units were in attendance. It was requested for the team to assist in mapping the fire ‘footprint’ to provide the incident command a clear picture of the burn area which could be used alongside other assets such as the drone footage.
The teams’ Polaris buggy was used whilst tracking GPS radios and this was plotted whilst the crews were able to get the fire under control. Once it was clear other resources were not imminently required one of the team’s vehicles was stood down and two members left to assist at a first aid event, and by 8 pm the incident was scaled back and the remaining team stood down. Team members returned to our base, washed vehicles, and sorted kit before completing some of the monthly checks.
Please remember to take care of yourselves and the environment around us especially in the recent hot and dry weather.
