September 28, 2022CALLOUT 35 – Call to assist with ankle injury
October 2, 2022CALLOUT 34
On Saturday evening (1/10/22 19:40) the team were contacted by Greater Manchester Police with regards to a person with an injured ankle who was lost and unable to continue somewhere at Healey Dell, Rochdale. Unfortunately, both the police and ourselves were unable to respond to messages to get the exact location, and the team deployed a small number of our volunteers to go to the area to try and locate the casualty.
On the arrival of some of our local volunteers, the casualty was located on the far side of the river, off of any marked paths, on steep and slippery ground with no clear access to them. As such a full team callout was initiated, and further team members were mobilised to the scene to assist. Whilst they were on their way, some of the initial team volunteers were deployed to find access and make their way to the casualty.
Upon arrival, the casualty had a very nervous large dog and as such everything with the callout was dealt with from a distance so as not to distress her any more than needed. Once further team and equipment were relocated to a new access point, equipment was deployed and a rope system was set up to extract the casualty and his dog. This assisted them back up the steep and slippery muddy banking to the minor path above in the woods where they could safely be directed and walk out to safety.
