March 17, 2022CALLOUT 10 – Call to assist NWAS
March 23, 2022CALLOUT 09
Yesterday evening (Sat 19/3/22) just after 4 pm, the team was contacted by Lancashire Police, with a request to assist Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) with a moorland fire near Lee Mill Quarry.
Our duty leader made contact with the fire officer on the ground and rather than a full team callout, a small two-man team was deployed with our Hilux and Polaris Ranger (ATV) to go and assist transportation of Fire Personnel onto and off of the moors.
Fortunately, the team were able to be present but were not required to assist, before being able to stand down and return vehicles to the base by shortly before 6:30 pm.
Please, as we come into spring, remember fire safety on the moors:
Take your litter home.
Extinguish cigarettes properly and don’t throw cigarette ends on the ground or out of car windows.
Avoid using barbecues and open fires in the countryside.
Don’t leave bottles or glass – sunlight shining through glass can start fires (take them home and recycle them).
If you see a fire in the countryside, report it to 999 immediately.
