On Saturday afternoon (13:45 15/3/25) the team were contacted by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist with a casualty who had taken a fall whilst out walking within the area of Jamestone Quarry, Grane Road near Haslingden.
The team was mobilised and an additional request sent to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team to assist in case of a difficult stretcher carry in challenging terrain.
The first team members were quickly on the scene and confirmed an open fracture of the lower leg. The assistance of the air ambulance was requested and as it was stood down on another job, diverted and arrived very promptly on the scene landing close by.
The North West Air Ambulance Charity paramedics treated the casualty with assistance from team members before splinting the leg and then a combined effort for a short carry on a stretcher to the helicopter.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and thanks again to the members of the public who assisted initially and to Bolton for sending additional personnel to assist.
