Around 12:30 on Thursday 14th November, the team were called out to assist the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust with reports of someone having fallen from height at Lee Mill Quarry. The North West Air Ambulance Charity was en route and the team was mobilised to the location.
On arrival, it was clear the casualty was more than 30ft down a shaft. The air ambulance paramedics were already on scene and had started their initial assessment of the casualty. In addition to this, the Manchester HART Team were also en route to assist.
After an initial assessment of the scene, a rope system was used along with our vacuum mattress and bell stretcher to extract the casualty. Once safe, it was a quick handover to the air ambulance for onward transportation and further care.
Another great example of multiagency working with air ambulance, HART and ourselves, collaborating to create a successful outcome. Thanks to all that attended and our colleagues on the day.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and all the best.
