Just after 13:30 yesterday (Sun 11/8/24) the team were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist with a gentleman who had tripped and fallen in Buckden woods above Ramsbottom, suffering a lower limb injury.
Due to the steep and difficult terrain, our assistance was needed to safely get the casualty to the awaiting land ambulance. Once initial team members arrived on scene they were met by the paramedic, a former team member, so a plan was formulated for the arrival of further team members and equipment.
Due to many of the team being at the Trawden show, a request was put to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team (BMRT) to assist with this incident and the time it would take to get the team vehicle to the location. This was additionally fortunate as whilst en route many of our team were diverted to callout #28 (see next post).
Once appropriate resources were on the scene, the casualty was placed on a bell stretcher and evacuated through the woods to the waiting ambulance.
Many thanks to all those involved and we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
