CALLOUT 05 – Call to assist NWAS in Trawden
January 20, 2024CALLOUT 07 – Call to assist casualty at Pendle Hill
March 7, 2024CALLOUT 06
With the poor weather it was only expected as a matter of time, team members were at our base during the day to monitor conditions yesterday. Sure enough, shortly before 18:00, the team was contacted by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist with an incident near Roughlee, Pendle.
A teenager had an incident involving a quad bike and subsequently sustained a serious lower leg injury. As the team was contacted, a paramedic was walking to the scene but unable to make their way in their vehicle and reported may even be unsuitable for 4×4 vehicles also. Team members were deployed and made their way to our base, as others headed directly to the location.
With local knowledge of possible preferred access routes, the team made their way to the scene and were able to assist in getting the NWAS crew to the injured teenager with additional equipment to splint the limb before transporting them to the road / awaiting ambulance and then stayed with them until the main road to ensure no further issues on the snow and sleet covered minor roads.
The team stood down and returned vehicles to our base; whilst also assisting several other vehicles on the way back and then returned home at approximately 20:00.
