On Wednesday afternoon (16:45 30/8/23) the team was called again by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS), this time to assist with an elderly gentleman who had taken a fall from their bike and ended up in a small ravine off the cycleway near to Lower Darwen.
Fire and Ambulance crews were already on the scene, but the extraction wasn’t as simple as hoped due to multiple injuries and the location where the casualty had landed.
Upon the teams’ arrival, the casualty was placed onto one of our stretchers and extracted back to the path. From here they were assisted into the team vehicle, before being conveyed to the awaiting ambulance for onwards transportation to the hospital.
