Sunday afternoon (13:20 16/7) saw the team deployed for the second time of the weekend.
The team was contacted by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist the North West Air Ambulance Charity with an incident near Clowbridge Reservoir. A casualty had fallen from a horse and suffered potentially serious injuries and upon arrival, the air ambulance crew requested the teams’ assistance to get the casualty to the helicopter due to the terrain.
The team was deployed and made their way to assist with transferring the casualty to the air ambulance. Once team members were on scene they packaged the casualty into the MIBS (multi-integrated body splint) stretcher before carrying them to the awaiting air ambulance for onward transportation to the hospital.
Once the air ambulance was airborne and leaving the scene the team began to stand down, however, unfortunately, whilst returning one of the team vehicles suffered a tear to the side wall of the tire. this meant not only were the vehicle and team members temporarily unavailable should they be needed elsewhere, but also that this will subsequently need to be replaced to ensure the team can remain fully operational.
