Training with H M Coastguard on Pendle

In the middle of what’s been a busy week for callouts… Sunday was (even though a bank holiday weekend), business as usual, and time for our training exercise with HM Coastguard and the S92 helicopter.

There are occasions where we need to call on HM Coastguard to assist where additional skills are required or when a casualty is time critical and helimed (air ambulance) can’t fly or are otherwise engaged.

When that call comes, we all need to be well trained and current with our skills, so with the kind assistance of our colleagues, Search and Rescue 912 came over to Pendle and we ran through some of the practical training.

Those of you that were on Pendle on Sunday will have seen the helicopter flying back and forth whilst we all went through the training cycle of boarding, off-boarding, high lining, and more.

We can’t thank HM Coastguard enough for their time on Sunday to ensure our team of volunteers is trained and confident to operate safely in what can be a very dynamic environment. Thanks again and we’ll see you all soon!
