CALLOUTS 44 & 45 – Call to Assist NWAS
December 18, 2022RPMRT’s 2022 Summary
January 5, 2023A fantastic day out on Pendle Hill
The team had a fantastic day out on Pendle hill yesterday going through an exercise, and testing team members whilst also getting to know our new intake of trainees.
A fantastic day which has been organised to touch on many areas of the team’s skills. We were set a scenario of two injured hillwalkers who had sustained lower leg injuries. When the first team members arrived, first aid was provided by some of our casualty carers, before the casualties were wrapped in a cas bag and packaged to keep warm in the poor weather. From here they were carried to the top of the miners' track before being transported in our ATV buggies as far as possible over towards boar clough. A sled and carry continued, including a rope system backup to lower them down to the path of dean clough before ending the exercise.
A full-on morning involving over 17 volunteers and 7 of our new trainees, with special thanks to Lizzy, our trainee training officer for organising this.
However, as always, the fun doesn’t stop when we call it “end-ex”. Team members were back at our base this afternoon cleaning off all our team vehicles and sorting out the kit that has been drying off!
