CALLOUT 41, CALLOUT 42 & A Standby
December 11, 2022CALLOUTS 44 & 45 – Call to Assist NWAS
December 18, 2022CALLOUT 43
Sunday evening (21:20 11/12/22) saw the final callout of a very busy weekend for our team. We were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist a crew with the evacuation of a casualty in Whitworth. The ambulance crew was already dealing with the casualty but was unable to proceed back to the main road due to the icy conditions on the road/track.
The team was requested to assist in transferring the casualty to a second vehicle for onward transportation to the hospital. From speaking with the crew it was decided to mobilize two team members in our 4×4 response vehicle to assist, and the rest of the team could be mobilized should it transpire to be anything more complex.
As these team members were on their way to our base, we received word from the NWAS crew on scene they had managed to get the casualty to the awaiting ambulance with the use of a local resident’s 4×4, and team members were stood down and returned home.
Unfortunately, less than 30 mins later, the team was remobilized to the same location where one of the NWAS crew members had slipped and fallen, injuring their shoulder.
Once again our 4×4 response vehicle was mobilized along with one of our team leaders heading directly to the location also. As our team members arrived at the scene, the NWAS personnel (assisted by locals) were moving the second casualty into the ambulance. The team remained at the location until all vehicles had departed, before returning the vehicle to our base and finally heading home by about 23:30.
