Saturday evening (16:55 26/11/2022) the team was contacted by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist a biker who had fallen and possibly suffered a period of unconsciousness along with other injuries.
The team was deployed and 9 members made their way with 2 further providing assistance remotely. Team volunteers made their way toward the weather station on Hameldon Hill, en route they met with the RRV (rapid response vehicle) paramedic and gained access through the gate to proceed up the hill. At the weather station, team vehicles along with the paramedic proceeded toward the reported location of the casualty.
Shortly thereafter the team found the casualty slowly making their way off the hill on the track coming towards them. He was checked over by the paramedic before being transported back to the roadside to await the ambulance.
The casualty seemed to have walked away from what could have been some serious injuries out on the hill. It is always a good idea to head out with someone else or let someone know exactly where you are going and when to expect you to return home.
