CALLOUT 27 – Call to assist runner with heat exhaustion

On Sunday we then spent the day at Trawden Show and Fell Race, we were providing safety cover for the event but this was also a great opportunity to meet the public and raise some vital funds for the team. Our tombola raised a fantastic £151, with some great prizes being kindly donated by Tesco Haslingden.

It was a very hot day, and whilst on standby for the fell race, the team were mobilised to assist a runner who had completed the route but not as a registered runner. The runner was suffering from severe heat exhaustion, bordering on heat stroke. This mobilisation was our 27th callout of the year, with the casualty being treated by our team’s medics.

The Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team is a full volunteer organisation that responds to those in need in our local community. The team is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.
