As ever callouts are quiet for a spell, then all come in at once! After two callouts on Sunday evening, tonight (Tues 9/7/22) just after 5pm, the team were passed details of a job by Oldham Mountain Rescue Team for an ongoing incident with the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust in our area.
A young teenager had taken a fall off his mountain bike into a ravine near Heywood. It was believed to be ~40ft down the embankment towards the River Roch, suffering from potential with hip/leg amongst possibilities of other injuries.
The team were mobilised and members made their way to the RV in Heywood – some from our base to respond in team vehicles, other directly from home/work, with a couple also departing from a First Aid cover the team were doing at Nuttall Park in Ramsbottom (leaving other still on site to cover the event don’t worry!)
The North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) once again was called also and was taking off as team members arrived on the scene. The team remained mobile until confirmed the casualty had indeed been taken in the air ambulance and met the NWAS crew as they returned to their vehicle on the road. As always we wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.
