August 13, 2020Training update for Holly the search dog
This weekend saw the newest member of the team, Holly, with her handler Al attended the Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England national training course at Dartmoor.
Holly is a 9 month old Border Collie who originates locally within the teams area. The pair are working towards the search dog registration test and are currently in the puppy training phase of the process. It’s a long and time consuming process to become a fully graded dog team but the journey is a fantastic one which builds an unbelievable lifelong bond between dog and handler.
The weekend was 3 days of intensive obedience training. It was made even more challenging with the heat and of course having to comply with the current restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Needless to say Holly was absolutely dog tired afterwards but enjoyed lots of sleep and cuddles when she got home.
